Here's what a backyard can look like when the landscaping actually ties everything together. This Carmel property already had a great bones - a paver patio, a covered deck, and a pond view that most people would love to sit next to. What it was missing was some intentional planting that framed the space and gave it a finished feel.
We installed new landscape beds along the patio edge and planted a pair of emerald green arborvitaes as the focal point. Arborvitaes are a smart pick for a spot like this. They grow tall and narrow, they stay green year-round, and they add privacy without taking over the yard. These two are planted right where the patio meets the lawn, which visually anchors the whole outdoor living area.
The steel edging is one of those details that makes a big difference. It creates a clean line between the mulch beds and the grass - no messy borders, no edges creeping into the lawn over time. Paired with fresh dark mulch, it gives the beds a sharp, polished look that holds up well.
What we ended up with is a backyard that feels put together from every angle. The patio, the plants, the edging - it all works as one cohesive outdoor living space instead of just a bunch of separate pieces. That's really the goal with any landscape installation we take on.
