Here's a backyard we just wrapped up in Indianapolis. The homeowner wanted a cleaner, more finished look - something low maintenance but still sharp. We came in with a full plan: fresh plantings, river rock ground cover, and a tumbled Eden edger to define the bed lines.
The edger really ties everything together. That curved border between the turf and the rock bed gives the whole yard a polished, intentional feel. It's one of those details that separates a yard that looks "done" from one that looks designed.
The artificial turf is a big part of why this yard works so well. No more patchy grass under the shade of that big tree, no more muddy spots after rain. It stays green, it stays clean, and it holds up through heavy use without any of the upkeep that natural grass demands.
We worked the plantings into the rock bed along the back of the house to add some texture and depth without overcrowding the space. The natural stone steppers near the base of the tree give you a functional path while keeping the whole area feeling organic and grounded.
It's a good example of how a few well-chosen materials - turf, river rock, edging, plantings - can completely change how a backyard feels. Not just how it looks on a sunny day, but how easy it is to live in year round.
