Discover how our fertilization program effectively prevents and controls crabgrass, ensuring a lush, healthy lawn through pre- and post-emergent treatments.

Is Crabgrass Treatment Included in Our Fertilization Program?
One of the most common questions we receive from homeowners is:
“Do you treat for crabgrass?”
The short answer is yes! Crabgrass prevention and control are a part of our lawn care program.
Crabgrass is one of the most common lawn weeds in Indiana. You typically see this weed throughout the summertime, and the most likely place to find it is in an area where turf is thin and unhealthy, or around driveways, sidewalks, and curbs. If left untreated, crabgrass can grow fast and begin to take nutrients, water, and light away from your lawn.
How We Stop Crabgrass
The most effective method of managing crabgrass is to prevent it from ever getting to the germination stage. To prevent crabgrass, our program utilizes a professional application of pre-emergent each springtime. This treatment places a barrier in your soil that stops the seeds from germinating into mature crabgrass plants.
Proper timing is essential when dealing with pre-emergent applications, and we apply our treatments based on environmental factors and the season.
If Crabgrass Still Comes Out…
Even though pre-emergent application is highly effective, there are other factors, such as rain, poor soil conditions, and stress, that could result in some crabgrass growing in your lawn.
That is why we have included post-emergent crabgrass treatment as part of Round 4 of our fertilizer program. The crabgrass is most likely to respond to treatment when the weed is actively growing. During this application, our technicians will survey the lawn for any existing crabgrass and treat it to ensure that it doesn’t spread to other areas of the lawn.
Building a Stronger Lawn
With every application of fertilizer in our lawn care program, we strive to create a thicker and healthier lawn that will be able to outcompete and push out crabgrass naturally. A thick lawn is naturally resistant to crabgrass and other common weeds.
